In these paintings, I am exploring everyday objects, everyday scenes: landscapes, houses, boats, simple objects. These objects are shown from a different perspective and in a new light and by doing this I hope to show the magic of the simplicity around us.

The subject matter isn't important, there is no narrative. It's a simple presentation of color and how light plays on simple shapes. An eternal moment is captured. The magic of the four o'clock sun on a bird house, the shimmer of a six a.m. landscape, the reflected blue of water on a boat's hull. Extraneous things fall away until what's left is the simple line, the shimmering color.

My recent painting  has centered around one range of mountains in the Adirondacks that I painted for the last five years. I  examined and reflected upon the solidity of these mountains, the peacefulness of this landscape and the power of these skies.
